Special about the James Bond tune is the guitar riff that gives it that typical sound. Everybody directly links that to James Bond. I even know that Ben Liebrand in an interview once told that he couldn’t make it with synthesizers. He called in the help of a respected guitarist to play and sample the riff for him. Not sure if that is still the case today with the latest technology.

Today I listened to a track from 20 Dollars Motel, when I suddenly heard my favorite guitar riff. Lucky me, now I can combine two of my passions.

It contains acapella samples from Yazoo and I am convinced that I heard the drum-loop somewhere before. I still think the track is missing some vocals, so maybe I’ll try a remix or mashup with it.

The first one is the sum of all Alex Gaudino’s saxophone sounding tracks from last year with on top some kid’s vocals. La Rubia is a track based on the samples of the Magic Carpet Ride from the Mighty Dub Cats. That song however may have some potential.

The new release features the Dirty Windows version of the track. It is funny to hear how the samples and beat have been remixed together to get the dirty house sound effect.

The relase doesn’t bring anything new and I doubt wheter it should. The guitar riff is what it is all about. However, some people might have forgotten the song a little bit, just like I did. Thankfully this release refreshed my mind instead of the song.

But with the 2009 remixes it has been armed for a new round of Sway. I must say that I really like the Eric Witlox remixes of Mucho mambo. They start just like it was back in 1999, but with a little twist. Tough you might not notice anything until that moment that the beat hits you and the stuttering samples then still have to come. I think I’m in love again…

After a release from Luke Francis was it this time the work from Sunrider, with cover art colors that make you blind. The baseline sounds new to me, like they made it from scratch. With some flashback moments to the original samples. Nothing fancy, just a decent remix.

On the B side is also a bootleg remix of I feel love from Donna Summer. I do like the beginning of that track it’s mystery. After the mystery is gone it starts to sound a little bit monotone.

Fortunately some other people did their best destroying the metal sound in their remix and with success. The Gambafreaks VS. Holly Orange Mix makes things much greater.

The song isn’t that special, but it uses the same baseline as Masters At Work - Work, but then with just a little tweak in the sound. At least a great song to use as base for a mix with some Latin acapellas.
