Not only the Joomla system was outdated, the design could also use fresh and new inspiration.

So here is the new website, powered by WordPress with a fresh design. All content has been transferred and old links are being redirected. I hope to be more active on the new website, which should be easier with WordPress. I’ve great ideas and plans, now I only have to find the time to execute them…

Oh I almost forgot it, but during the migration I discovered a news post pointing me at the fact that this is already website number 3!

Since somewhere between now and 24 hours back the provider has moved the site to a new server environment that has a better performance and is optimized for dynamic websites like mine.

I think it is a big improvement compared to the old performance, the pages load much faster now which should give visitors a better experience. I haven’t enabled the caching options which in the old situation didn’t provide any better performance. Maybe in the new environment they can give an additional boost, so stay tuned.

Bee Mp3 has spidered my website and found a number of my Mashups, including the Kesha Mashups. I probably will need to take some action of the ammount of traffic keeps increasing to avoid additional traffic billing from the provider. I’m not planning on blocking Bee Mp3 since this is just an additional way for people to discover music on the web, including my music.

Thanks to the 4 Tik Tok Massups of Kesha, these are generating a lot of traffic. Also the simple but highly wanted New Year 2010 Countdown Samples. They had over 1000 downloads in no time. Even today January 18th people are still downloading those samples.

With the Share utility on the left it’s a peace of cake, just hit the share link and in the pop up window select your social bookmarking provider.

The DropBox is a cool feature of Soundcloud. Click on it and you will be able to upload a song to my account without even the need to register at Soundcloud. It is a very quick and easy way to exchange work with people. So if you like to share a track with me, just drop in in my Soundcloud DropBox.

The search engine provides the first 10 search results directly without the need for a page refresh, so you can perform quick searches. A cool feature is that you can search for specific terms like mashup which will trigger the search engine to show you that I have a special blog section dedicated to mashups. I am still working on completing the search engine configuration to give better results that match the website structure.

That has changed now, the RSS feed that is shown and embedded in all pages is the same and includes all the website content except the download items. This makes things a bit easier and you won’t miss out on anything. For additional functionality are the feeds now published via Feedburner from Google.

I’ve updated the website with a new template that I’ve been working on in the background. It should look more relaxed because of the improved contrast and over all improved readability. It gives also less blank space on wide screen monitors, since the new background is screen filling for monitors up to full HD resolution. The new template should allow the website to run faster, but at this moment the biggest delay is still at the provider side. I’m thinking about changing the hosting to get a better web experience. What also has been done with the new website is a complete check of all content. I finished the translation of the content which now is completely in English, and yes that was a lot of work.
