Bart Simpson – Do the Bartman

This month’s acapella is going to be a very simple but famous acapella, since everybody knows the Simpsons. The song Do the Bartman was part of the Simpsons album that was released in 1990. I didn’t have the numbers sharp but it seems that the single hit a lot of number 1 spots in the charts all around the world. In the Netherlands it got as close as number 3.

I like this acapella for a number of reasons. It can be played at a very wide speed range, up to 50% pitch. While the original is rather slow it has been sampled into various happy hardcore tracks in the late 90s.
Younger children who are at the age of watching the Simpsons may not know the song but definitely recognize the voice of Bart.

When playing a 90s party this track can bring back the 90s ambient because of both its musical and TV memories. Best for last of course, it is one of the most happy acapellas I have in my collection, so definitely worth the acapella of the month spot during June.

It looks like a real rush is going on to remix every popular hit from the 90s at this moment. So I decided to go for an acapella of the month from the beginning of the 90′s. To be more specific the acapella of Finally from Ce Ce Peniston.

The track boomed in 1991 and can still get a crowd moving. As an acapella I love the power that R&B singer Cecelia put in it. Bart B. More &. Oliver Twizt did some great work with their version of the track last year. But also many other remixes and mashups exist. I love to use the acapella live and especially the looping of the very last part. So here is the acapella of the month September: Ce Ce Peniston – Finally.

Freestyle Orchestra – Keep on pumpin’ it up

Freestyle Orchestra with Keep on pumpin’ it up is a dance track from the 90s. Not a big hit and frankly I don’t like the track either. It was a project from Little Louie Vega and Todd Terry, big names but definitely not their best production.

However, if you use the vocals of the track separately it sounds great. It can really power up an instrumental dance track and it definitely substantiates to the name Freestyle Orchestra. Also the very first part can be used as a acapella only intro live. Because of my love for vocals that burst from energy is Freestyle Orchestra with Keep on pumpin’ it up acapella of the month August.

Brandy & Monica – The boy is mine is one of those numbers that contributed to the definition of Contemporary R&B in the late 90s. To payback some respect to the track and emphasise that the acapella of this track can still compete these days it is the acapella of the month October.

Brandy & Monica scored a world wide hit with The boy is mine. The song ended up in the top 3 of almost all charts around the world. Also in the Netherlands did it reach the number one position. For the month October it is back in my acapella of the month chart.
