A little while back, when I was still DJ-ing at Café Miller Time, there was someone who was always requesting the Sound of violence. He always talked about how great the song was and that you never heard it anymore. He probably had some great memories from a summer festival of it.

Unfortunately for him I didn’t have the track, but I always did have the acapella with me. So I always made a live mashup with another track to satisfy his request.

Today I was warping the track in Ableton and testing the warp markers and before I knew I had a mashup with AnnaGrace. So for everyone who had forgotten about this song and especially for the Miller Time requester, it’s back in the spotlight as acapella of the month November and soon also in a mashup.

Jaydee is the alias of DJ and producer Robin Albers schuil. During the 90′s he worked as DJ at the AVRO on Radio 3. He was one of the people behind the formation Sunclub. While Plastic dreams never has become a big commercial hit, it was a major track in de club/dance scene. The dark underground sound still viberates, making this an unforgetable major house classic.

The bootleg remix used emphasizes the key elements of the original track, making it an even stronger track that perfectly fitted in the mashup with as result: Just a little plastic dream.

The In the mix show of march 15, 2004 from Ben Liebrand ended with the Patrick Hernandez – Born to be alive in the extended version. Ben Liebrand had mixed Una Mas – I will follow into the breaks pussing the climax of that mix to newer heights. The power of that crystal clear vocal was a perfect addition to Born to be alive.

I can still listen to that mashup and feel the energy in exactly the same way as I heared in the first time. Because of that I’ve put Una Mas’ I will follow as acapella of the month September.

In search for the most warm track from Fedde Le Grand my final choice came down on Take no shhh. The deep warm sound was more defining then in his other songs and gave the best compliment to the vocals from Toni Braxton. Keeping all the original warmth was imposible, but this is as close as it can get.

Shannon conquered many charts with her song in 1983 and the song still has it in it. For me is the acapella what it is all about, a deep warm sound filled with pasion. The great acapella to use in live sets, mixes or mashups. The Ida Engberg VS. Shannon – Let the disco volante music play mashup is the proof of that. The acapella spotlight of June goes to Shannon.

During a recent evenening I suddenly had a brain wave while I was spinning. While playing the Original Mix from Disco volante, I went trough my acapellas in search for that missing element. I found that missing element when I mixed the track with Shannon’s Let the music play.

With the addition of Shannon, the song got that finishing touch I was searching for. The audience reacted enthouiastic and that’s how Engberg VS. Shannon – Let the disco volante music play was born.
