A new beta version of Traktor has been released by Native Instruments with the number 1.2.0 R7649. Since I was already working with the first beta version I decided to keep up with the latest one. I didn’t find any major issues in the previous release, however the beta forum from Native Instruments does show a number of topics regarding crashes or incorrect behavior.
It took some time but my AKAI APC 40 has arrived. Last Friday the postman made me a very happy man and I did some quick tests with it. First impressions are all good and I can’t wait for doing some serious testing with this one.
Like the rest of the DJ Scene I’m also very curious at what Pioneers next generation DJ Product will look like. The rumors and guesses about how it will look like are enormous. So for now we can just count down and see what is coming…
A few weeks ago Native Instruments started with a public test of Traktor 1.2 beta in all Pro/Duo Scratch/Non-Scratch versions. Since I was looking forward to the new “Elastique Pro” timestretching algorithm that would be in the next version I also joined the beta. And so far so good, the beta seems to be stable and have some nice improvements. I’ve focused my testing on the new Key Lock algorithm.
Unfortunately I am still waiting for my AKAI APC 40 to arrive. It looks like it is going to be the end of this month. It seems there are only a few available at the moment and that just a handful of people have been able to grab one. The rest ended up in the stores as Demo model.
Lately it’s been a little bit quiet, but that doesn’t mean nothing is happening. Since January this year I’ve said goodbye to Café the Miller Time. After almost two years of building the Miller Time with Simone & Brechje as captains, it was time for a change.
Today, May the 30th, is a great day. Not only the sun is shining but the AKAI APC 40 Ableton Live MIDI Controller is officially released. Since the announcement I’ve been looking forward to get my hands on this peace of hardware. I am still waiting for my order to arrive, but hope to be able to tell you more soon.
Today I discovered Dance Valley Back Into Time. A very nice looking web application that takes you on a journey through all the Dance Valley editions.
Mostly because of my Drive-in past I’ve been working for a long time with BPM Studio and the accompanying RCP-2001-B controller. I mostly used it for quick try-outs of ideas for mixes and mashups. Unfortunately the software didn’t receive much updates lately and started to lag behind in functionality. So it was time for a successor of BPM Studio.
Yesterday Oversoft and I had a try-out of something new. We created a setup with two laptops running Ableton Live 7, the Allen& Heath Xone 4D and a Pioneer DJM-600. The two laptops with Ableton Live 7 we’re linked together using the MIDI signal from the Xone 4D. It was the task of the Xone 4D to keep everything in Sync. The DJM-600 and Xone 4D were also linked like in a normal battle setup.
